Another Part of Me-Stripped Down

 Here is the acappella version of Michael Jackson's hit Another Part of Me. Pre-released for his Disney attraction Captain Eo and for the eponymous single and Bad Album.

 On this track, only the words "Another Part of Me" and a few ab-libs(including "ooh ooh") were over-dubbed with his own background vocals. The rest of the track was done single-handedly!

 Since you can still hear the Clave' Clap-Stick(also done be Michael Jackson), I wouldn't technically call it acappella. But more of the stripped-down variety(I wonder if there's a name for half-strippers?).

The Way You Make Me Feel Acappella

 Ever wonder how Michael Jackson sounded without the bells and whistles of "The Way You Make Me Feel"? Are you dieing for another example of MJ at his finest vocally-You know those raw, buoyant, krispy cream vocal chords of his?

 You know, there are many who've told the tale of how astronomically well Mr. Jackson could sing behind closed doors-In the studio! Even though he over-dubbed a few songs(strictly for harmonization), many have wondered why he choose to mime occasionally on stage(mainly during The History Tour). Some maintain he had Laryngitis(which is true to an extent). I believe it to be due to his Discoid Lupus(a condition known to inflame the lungs among other connective tissues of the body). It could very well have affected his vocal chords. But regardless of the cause, it's beyond speculation that Michael Jackson has a magnificent vocal talent and can floor the critics any day!

Bad Acappella Version

 I'm not to sure about this being an official version of Bad acappella or if an amateur stripped his vocals from the album version. Suffice it to say, I did enjoy the background vocal harmonization.

 However, I'd much rather prefer a complete strip-down to just his vocals(the true meaning of acappella). Instead of letting one instrument off the radar.

 But I have a strong feeling The Estate will an album full of never before heard acappella's from Michael Jackson! Hopefully something to look forward to in 2011.

Billie Jean Acappella

 Unlike many hot shots today, Michael Jackson never used the studio to hide vocal imperfections or glitches. Rather, he overdubbed to add in his own background effects and ab-libs(word fillers). For most tracks he only had to record the main track once.

That being said, here is an acappella recording of Billie Jean...

Beat It Acappella Take 2

 Added to the second disc of The This Is It Soundtrack, this is an alternate recording(actually 4 recordings) of Michael Jackson singing Beat It. More like a 4-part harmony of himself(a Michael Jackson Quartet is what I'd like to call it).

 What you'll also hear is more beat-boxing from The King of Pop! Weather that be the main guitar lick or the snare drum. As previously mentioned, the orchestra is all in his mind(this is just part of it).

 Unlike what you hear today on the radio today, the only time Michael Jackson overdubbed his voice was strictly for harmonization(as opposed to recording over vocal glitches).

 If it wasn't for his Discord Lupus, I firmly believe MJ's vocal range would be as clear as day and this live vs. lip syncing debate wouldn't as so much exist!

Beat It Acappella Mix

 Today we are gonna review an Acappella Mix of Beat It. One of Michael Jackson's most recognizable pop sensations from the 80's!

Acappella Mix Review

 On most of Mr. Jackson's studio recordings, he only went in once to lay down his vocals(the exception of course would be in layering extra vocals for back-ups and special effects).

 Beat It was no exception. As mentioned above, Michael performed the back-ups himself(for harmonization). But the rest was single-handedly sung on one take(i.e. without layering extra recordings to edit out his mistakes).

 As always, Michael's organic voice is crisp and on-key throughout the track. At one point, it's as if he's singing Barbershop with himself.

 Though I wish the studio left out the Beat it...Beat it...Beat it...Beat it...Ab lib at times(mainly towards the end). As it doesn't go with the stripped vocals.

 Other then that(and a 40 sec wait), I am absolutely stunned at this man's vocal range(I wish I had that). I'm shocked he never took advantage of every opportunity to flaunt those buoyant rangfull vocal chords(Thriller +).
