The Love You Save

The Love You Save[by The Jackson Five] replaced The Beatles The Long and Winding Road from the top spot on The Billboard Hot 100

"The Love You Save" became the second consecutive #1 single from The Jackson Five. Coming from their most notable album ABC. Michael Jackson was fast becoming a favorite among Motown enthusiasts and the Bubble Gum circle.

As the tone-arm scratches the surface, we're greeted with an energetically buoyant vocal by Michael! Accompanied with powerful backups from the 4 brothers!

Indeed! "The Love You Save" was known to allude Diana Ross's "Stop In The Name of Love"! Both are noted to stomp while shouting "Stop!"

Only a month after "The Beatles" broke up on April 15th 1970, The J5 single replaced "The Long and Winding Road" down to the #2 spot! They were fast becoming one of Motown's hottest tickets!

Lyrics

J5:Stop! Na na na! You'd better save it!
Stop, stop, stop, you'd better save it!

Michael: When we played tag in grade school
You wanted to be It.
But chasing boys was just a fad
You crossed your heart you'd quit.

When we grew up you traded
Your promise for my ring
Now just like back to grade school
You're doing the same old thing!

CHORUS:
Stop! The love you save may be your own!
Darling, take it slow
Or some day you'll be all alone.
You'd better stop the love you save may be your own!
Darling, look both ways before you cross me
You're headed for the danger zone.

Michael: I'm the one who loves you!
I'm the one you need!

Jermaine: Those other guys will put you down
As soon as they succeed!

Michael: They'll ruin your reputation!
They'll label you a flirt!

Jermaine: The way they talk about you
They'll turn your name to dirt, oh!

Second verse:
Michael: Isaac said he kissed you
Beneath the apple tree
When Benjie held your hand he felt
E-lec-tri-ci-tee!
When Alexander called you
He said he rang your chimes.
Christopher discovered
You're way ahead of your times!

CHORUS:
Stop! The love you save may be your own!
Darling, take it slow
Or some day you'll be all alone.
You'd better stop the love you save may be your own!
Darling, look both ways before you cross me
You're headed for a danger zone.

BRIDGE:

J5: Slow down.
Slow down.
Slow down.
Slow down.

Michael:
S is for "Save it"
T is for "Take it slow"
O is for "Oh, no!"
P is for "Please, please, don't go!"

Jermaine: The love you save may be your own...

Michael: Some day you may be all alone...

Jermaine: Stop it!
Michael: Save it, girl!
Jermaine: Baby! Ooh!
Michael: You better stop the love you save may be your own

Michael: You'd better stop! the love you save may be your own!
Jermaine: Please, please
Or some day, some day baby,
You'll be all alone

Michael: I'm the one who loves you!
I'm the one you need!

Jermaine: Those other guys will put you down as soon as they succeed. (Michael:
Ahhhhh!)

Michael: Stop! The love you save may be your own, baby
Jermaine: You'd better stop it, stop it, stop it girl! or someday you'll be
all alone. The way they talk about you
They'll turn your name to dirt.

Stop! The love you save may be your own!

Jermaine: Don't cha know don't cha know. Some day baby you'll be all alone.
(wait a while) Those other guys will put you down as soon as they succeed.

Michael: Stop! The love you save may be your own!
Darling(fades)

Little Susie

Some believe this to be based on a true story. However, it's been more or less confirmed as a fictional tale. Partly Inspired by Gottfried Helnwein's artwork. Who is famous for his emotional imagery-Especially of children(in fact, Michael used his Lichtkind(Child of Light) painting to depict this song on The History Vol. 1 Booklet).

In this tragic tale, Little Susie took her own life because of gross indifference to her well-being. One by one, her folks passed away. Father abandoned them, leaving mother and gram-father to wither in the grave.

Years later, she was grafted into an unloving family. Though she was adopted, they did not take her in. Loneliness seeped it's cold dead fingers upon her tender heart. Until she couldn't bear it much longer. Although it was technically an accident. She subconsciously threw herself down the stairs to escape the pain.

Although the story is clearly fictitious, Michael was proving a point. "Neglect can kill. Like a knife …

Invincible Session Outtakes

Here is an exhaustive list of all Invincible tracks that Either was sent to production hell or never quite made the list. According to Rodney Jerkins, there are a heck of a lot of finished outtakes from this session. Enough to fill multiple albums! So I lied. This is by no means an exhaustive list.:)

Fall Again Demo-I knew something spectacular was missing from his latest album! I Just couldn't quite lay my finger on it. I'm glad Michael took time away to be with his sick son. But this track fits in this session like a jigsaw piece. This beautiful Romantic Ballad was co-produced by Walter Afanasieff and Michael Jackson.

Beautiful Girl Demo-I can just see this on a soundtrack for a Romantic movie. Claiming top chart positions worldwide. But for unknown reasons, it was cut at the last moment.

Michael Jackson and Tito both collaborated on an instrumental take which was also shelved.

The Way You Love Me-Sounds very much like something McCartney would do. With the elegant piano a…
